Parish Update -- April 23, 2021
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph and Corpus Christi:
Happy Easter! It has been a while since I've written you. I hope that you have all been able to have an experience of the Risen Jesus in these first few weeks of Easter.
Congratulations to our newly baptized and confirmed Catholics, who came into the Church at the Easter Vigil. This year three were baptized and Confirmed. Congratulations to Dawson Wright, Steve Carter, and Lawson Ashurst who were baptized, Confirmed and received their First Communion. Several others were confirmed and made profession of faith -- Paul Brasfield, Christi Carter, Addi Caughman, Brian Green, Justin Hancock, David Hester, Heather Hudson, Camden Oglesby, Andrew O'Quinn, Rachel Reeder, and Lee Rigdon.
Mikaela Elizondo and Clare McKenzie were two Catholics who had not yet been Confirmed.
Andrew Schleweet was Antiochian Orthodox and made a profession of faith and came into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church on the night of the Easter Vigil also.
Jonathan Reeves was Confirmed and made a Profession of Faith and received his First Holy Communion on Thursday of the Third Week of Easter.
Shave or Save -- I try not to use this platform or my position to make too many political statements...However, I hope you will all make the right choice and type 'SHAVE' in the notes section when you send a couple of dollars to the church via online giving. These funds will help benefit our Youth and Campus Ministry Programs here at St. Joseph.
Baccalaureate Mass -- We are having a Baccalaureate Mass for all of our Mississippi State students who are graduating this semester. It will be at 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Graduates are encouraged to wear their gowns and bring their families.
Confirmation -- Confirmation for our high school aged students will be Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 6 PM.
First Communion -- First Communion for our Second Graders will be held the following week on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 6 PM.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations -- The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes.

Diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator
Office of the Protection of Children and Young People
The Diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator works directly with parish and school Safe Environment Site Administrators and VIRTUS Facilitators to implement Diocesan-approved educational programs and ensure compliance with safe environment requirements for employees and volunteers working with minors and vulnerable adults.
Exempt, Full-time (35/hrs./wk.), (M-F 8:30 to 4:30)
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field preferred; Three or more years of experience in program management; Three or more years of experience in large group presentation and facilitation; VIRTUS Facilitator certification or willing to complete within 90 days; Intermediate skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Intermediate skills in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, preferred; Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church; includes faithful obedience to the Magisterium.
