Parish Update -- June 11, 2021
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph:
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: We need your help to get this ministry started on the right foot! :) Are you willing to help? We need a few supplies to make this classroom a top-notch hands on learning experience for our parish's children (ages 3-6 years old).
Out of town -- I will be out of town this weekend. I have a wedding for Kathleen McMackin and Stewart Inman at St. Alphonsus in Ocean Springs, MS. Kathleen and Stewart were both students here at MSU and active in CCM. Also, on Saturday morning I hope to be present at the ordination of future Fr. James Martin Nobles, OP at St. Dominic in New Orleans, LA. Fr. Nobles was a seminarian for the Diocese of Jackson for a few years and a student here at Mississippi State. He joined the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in 2014 and will be ordained to the priesthood tomorrow.
Fr. Josh Stephens who is the Air Force Chaplain in Columbus will cover in Macon at Corpus Christi again this weekend and Fr. Andrew Nguyen will be our celebrant in Starkville on Sunday. Please welcome both of them.
Perez Family Farewell Party -- Come say goodbye to the Loida and Ian Perez family at a Farewell party on Sunday at 2 PM in the Parish Hall. They will be greatly missed.
Parish leadership has been meeting this past week with city and police officials as well as other community leadership to help us take some steps to increase security around our church. After the incident in January, we wrote a grant with Homeland Security to help us with defraying the cost of surveillance on the property. We will continue with our plans and begin taking some other steps very soon. We will keep you updated.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
