Parish Update -- November 26, 2019
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph:
I hope everyone has had a great week so far. I also hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving this coming week. There a few things that I wanted to get the word out on.
1.
Congratulations -- to Sophia and John Cameron Corbin who were married on November 9. Blessings for your new life together.
2.
Congratulations also to Mekayla and Mitchell Nordin, our parishioners who were married in Georgia on October 19.
3.
New Sign -- If you haven't noticed, after a few months of waiting, our sign has arrived. We're very proud of it and hope that it will last us many years.
4.
Finance Council and Parish Council Update -- Both councils met last week. Various topics were discussed. One major topic of discussion was an undertaking we are embarking on soon in the development of a master plan for our campus. In conjunction with some professionals, some representatives of our different ministries, and some members of the physical plant committee, we will be discerning some of our short and long-term goals for our physical site here at St. Joseph
5.
Advent and Confession Schedule -- We begin Advent this coming Sunday. To help us prepare, our Advent reconciliation service will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 6pm. If you are not able to make it the confessional will be open on Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm and Sunday at 4:30pm.
6.
Thanksgiving Day Mass -- We will not have the normal 5:30 Mass on Thursday, but we will have Mass Thursday morning at 10:00am.
7.
Angel Tree -- This year St. Joseph will sponsor six families. The cards will be available on the tree in the gathering space of the church.
8.
Parish/Knights Christmas Party -- This year the Parish Christmas Party will be combined with the Knights of Columbus Christmas party. We would like for everyone to attend. It will be Sunday, December 15 at 5:30pm. There will be no evening Mass that day, so come in the morning and then come back for the festivities.
9.
Food Pantry Dates for December -- Setup: Friday December 13 @ 10:30 AM, followed by bagging at 11:30, and distribution on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 9am.
10.
First Saturday Mass -- December 7 at 10am, 9:30am Confessions beforehand.
11.
Catholic Foundation Grant -- In the last few weeks, we applied for and received a grant from the Catholic Diocese of Jackson's parish grant program, totaling $5,000. We submitted a proposal requesting a subsidy for our new handicap parking lot, which, in total, was a little over $20,000. If you would like to learn a little more about the Catholic Foundation or ways you can help it's sustainability, go to:
